The Start to the Saints Season
The start to another exciting Saints season is here and the city is buzzing with anticipation over a new quarterback and a new start.
Here are 5 thing you can do to be sure you are ready for game time!
1. Prepare your lucky jersey. That jersey has seen more ketchup and beer spills than the floor of the Dome, but you wouldn’t dream of washing away the luck that helped us claim the title in Miami.
2. Read up on the new guys. It may seem like players come and go by the minute, but before that first coin-toss, know who is on the line. A little prep work can help avoid trash talk embarrassment and keep you in the know on your fantasy team’s lineup.
3. Be sure your local haunts are ready. You may have a well-worn spot on the couch or a designated bar stool at the neighborhood watering hole. Regardless of location, be sure your butt is firmly planted where all the advice you yell at the TV can be heard by Coach Peyton.
4. Plan the menu. Come on, this is New Orleans. Boiled hotdogs and chips are not going to cut it. If you want good football gris-gris then bust out the giant gumbo pot or the grill/smoker/deep fryer and prepare to feed the screaming masses. Also local ale is highly recommended. Try out the newly branded Faubourg beer, why doncha?
5. Lastly, restore the faith. It’s easy to be a little weary of change or recall the disappointments of seasons' past, but true Who Dats know there's no room for that negativity when you're busy rooting on your team. Show your spirit! Wear your black and gold, and yell till you're blue in the face.
And pray to the heavenly saints above that this is the best season we have ever seen.
Happy Halloween
The slight chill in the air, the advertising of pumpkin spiced everything, the hopeful long-sleeves - it must be fall! The first holiday of the season is Halloween, and The Clouse Team has put together some winning costume ideas that are fun, festive, and totally New Orleans.
Here are our Top 5 Halloween costumes inspired by our beloved city:
1. Luke McCown's shine: Throw on the #7 Saints jersey, a blonde wig, and a look of hopeful gumption and BAM, you too will be given your moment to shine. The radiating glow of earnest ambition and strategic positioning near a Verizon cell tower is optional.
2. Mitch Landrieu on House Arrest: This one is perfect for those of us who require some comfort in our costumes. Throw on some sweat pants and a stained t-shirt, and you’re more than half-way there. Adorn with a king sized bag of Cheetos, a Big Gulp, and mumble endlessly about salvaging the budget. If questioned, stumble to the nearest sticky podium and begin ranting. Lindsay Lohan-esque ankle bracelet optional.
3. & 4. This costume can be approached in two ways.
One, you can opt for "Orleans Parish Water System Brain-eating Amoeba": Cover yourself in bubble wrap and glide, and I mean glide, around parties you weren’t invited to. Every once in a while attach yourself to someone at the party and become impossible to get rid of.
Two, "Confused New Orleans Sewerage and Water Board Employee": This one is a bit more simple, khakis and a t-shirt with Orleans Sewerage and Water board written on it and you’re ready to party. One should also walk around in a state of confusion, check party goers drinks for contaminants, and boil anything in a punch bowl. Warning: These costumes may require involuntary party hopping for obvious reasons.
5. Road Work Construction: This one is going to require a group of friends, and really, who doesn’t love a good group costume. It also appeals to the crafty Pinterest lady in all of us. Construct little cars to wear out of cardboard, plastic, or anything that can be hot glued or duct taped into the shape of a car. Next decide which street you would like to represent, for example, Napoleon Ave or Jefferson Ave. Construct your street sign, get in single file line and progress through the party at a snail’s pace. Excessive mouth beeping, starting, and stopping and general cussing is encouraged depending on level of intoxication.
Have a safe and fun Halloween, from all of the ghosts and goblins of The Clouse Team.
